Policies and Procedures on Class Registrations, Cancellations, Withdrawals and Refunds

General Registration

 

Students may register for courses and workshops online on the website at www.MonroeStreetStudio.com, or in person at Monroe Street Studio.   Online registrations are preferred.  Payment can be made by payment card (VISA, Mastercard or American Express) or in person by payment card or check.

 

Tuition payment in full must be received at time of course registration to secure your placement in a class.  Class sizes are limited and registrations are accepted in the order in which they are made (first-come, first-served).

 

Course Make-Up Policy

 

The following course make-up policy applies only to Children’s Art Programs (Multimedia Art for Children, Intermediate Learners, Art for Advanced Students, and Clay Play FriDay). Due to the nature and continuous presentation and refinement of new skills and techniques covered in these programs, we ask that students do their very best to attend all classes within a session. At the end of the session, there will be a makeup opportunity for anyone who has missed a class for whatever reason within that session. Students who have successfully attended all classes within a session may pay a drop-in fee and attend the makeup class to complete any unfinished pieces. We will no longer be issuing credits or refunds when two or more classes missed due to student schedule conflicts or illness. Students who are aware that they might miss two or more classes should discuss the situation with the Studio prior to registering for the class.

 

There are no make-up classes for single-day classes or workshops of any kind whether they take place on a single day or multiple days.

 

Make-up classes must have the approval of the instructor for the class in which the student would like to attend.  Students should notify the instructor and Monroe Street Studio of any plans for a make-up class in advance by email at art@monroestreetstudio.com.  If the intended make-up class is at capacity, the instructor or the Monroe Street Studio may, at their sole and absolute discretion, disallow attendance in the class.

 

Make-up classes must be completed during the season of the original session (for example, Fall I and II makeups must be completed by the conclusion of Fall II).

 

Refunds of Class or Workshop Registration Fees

 

It is the policy of Monroe Street Studio that once a student has registered for a course no refunds will be made.  There are two exceptions to this policy.  Refunds of course or workshop registration fees will only be made under two conditions:

 

Program Cancellation By Monroe Street Studio – If Monroe Street Studio cancels a course or workshop prior to the originally scheduled start time, registered students will receive a full refund of the registration fees paid.  This will be done by issuing a check or processing a payment card refund, or the student may request to apply the amount as a credit invoice to his or her account.

Withdrawal In Advance by Student – If  a student withdraws from a multi-session course at least 7 days prior to the date of the first class, registration fees will be refunded less a $25 administrative fee.

No partial refunds will be given within 7-days of the first class or after the classes have begun.

 

No refunds will be given for single-session classes or workshops.

 

 Inclement Weather

 

When the building needs to be closed due to inclement weather, Monroe Street Studio staff and instructors will attempt to notify students and parents by email and/or social media announcements (Facebook).  Please make sure your contact information is current.  Monroe Street Studio weather closures may follow the Federal government and/or FCPS closures.  Evening classes may be different in which case students will receive an email from Monroe Street Studio regarding the policy in those cases.
